We are looking forward to an exciting church school year in which each family member is involved in the nurturing of our children in their Christian faith.
St. John’s is using an arts-enhanced,
lectionary-based program as the Church School curriculum this year. Living the Good Newsis
based on Biblical passages known as the “lectionary” for the three seasons of
the church year: fall, winter and spring.
Engaging stories, songs, games and crafts have been designed to use with
our inquisitive primary grades children. Class sessions help teachers guide the
children in questioning, exploring and challenging through group play, activities, songs and
prayers. Youth in the intermediate and middle grades will engage in examining
broad concepts and themes as they explore their place in God’s diverse and
challenging world. Class sessions help teachers communicate unconditional
acceptance and how faith helps people weather problems, accept shortcomings and
make wise choices.
In addition to teacher and student print
resources, Living the Good
News provides a virtual library of
downloadable content as PowerPoint slides, activities, articles, Bible
background, poems, songs and artwork to support weekly class lessons. A monthly
“Living IN-Formation” e-newsletter of Christian education resources is
available for teacher tips, special offers and new product announcements.
Our Church School journey this year will be one of
Christian fellowship, worship and service.
